Kylie Minogue released her duet with Jason Donovan Especially For You on this day 23 years ago (28th November 1988).
After the runaway success of Neighbours, fans began pressing for a duet between Kylie and co-star Jason Donovan, who was also enjoying chart success after recording a single with PWL. Rumours were rife of thousands of pre-orders for a single that did not even exist, so Kylie and Jason agreed to record together in November 1988. A ballad about lovers reuniting after time apart, Especially For You went silver in the UK, and although pipped at the post to reach the coveted Christmas No.1, it became the first UK chart-topper of 1989. Backed with another duet, the up-beat, Grease-inspired All I Wanna Do Is Make You Mine, the single was also a major hit throughout Europe and reached No.2 in Australia.
