I previously posted this map of King’s Cross St Pancras as part of my review of the then-new Northern Ticket Hall, but it seems relevant to the previous post.
It also seems useful to post since a video of the secrets of the Victoria line was recently posted, and it contained the (apparently little-known) fact that the best way to the platforms is definitely not to follow the signs.
If you look at the diagram, from above it’s always easier to walk to the eastern (“existing”) ticket hall, and from the Northern and Piccadilly line you should head towards the cluster of staircases where the three platforms meet.
(The image used to be hosted on TfL’s site as part of their information about the station’s upgrade, but now it’s done it’s been taken down. Instead I took this from Leewood Projects, who worked on the western ticket hall.)

Londoners treat the underground not as a stage set, a place where we’re on display, but as a neutral space, one in which we don’t overtly direct our attention at each other.
People sneak glances at each other, of course they do, but the operative word is “sneak”. They don’t look openly, in the way they would elsewhere. The main focus of people’s attention is inward. They go into themselves. Or they go into the world of whatever entertainment they’re carrying.
Once upon a time, that would mainly have been a paid-for newspaper – but nothing has disappeared as fast and as completely from the world of the underground as the paid-for newspaper

The Hidden posters of Notting Hill Gate Tube station
A 2010 upgrade to Notting Hill Gate tube station revealed a series of vintage posters dating to between 1956 and 1959. The posters, which will be left intact once the modernisation work is completed, include advertising for Pepsodent Toothpaste and the Daily Mail Ideal Home Exhibition, as well as films like Around the World in 80 Days and The Horse’s Mouth, starring Alec Guinness.
