Pymlico branding by Rory McCarthy, what a nice idea! Inspired by how hard it is for businesses to support the upcoming Olympics without official sponsorships. Quite similar to the olympic logo preposed by Daniel Eatock (this), but taken further and more fun;
“I’ve created Pymlico, an alternative brand which can be used FREE by anyone wishing to support the event. Starting with the Olympic anagram Pymlico, which seems too good to ignore (even if it’s not the correct spelling!) I have incorporated some quaint English phrases into a couple of the poster designs and given the whole thing an upbeat, positive feel.”

London traffic lights rigged to win International Olympic Committee’s favor
A Vanity Fair article profiling the political journey that Britain took to secure the 2012 Olympics reports that the bid committee went as far as messing with traffic signals to ensure that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) visitors were impressed with the city’s infrastructure. In a story that sounds worthy of a political thriller (or a Bourne film), CEO of the London bid committee Sir Keith Mills says that the team planted GPS trackers in each of the IOC evaluator’s vehicles, planned their routes through the city, and followed them using London’s infamous CCTV system to make sure that they were not hindered by traffic. The operation took place in the London Traffic Control Center and “when they came up to traffic lights… we turned them green.”

‘run’
Internationally-renowned artist Monica Bonvicini was commissioned to design a flagship artwork for outside the Copper Box. Monica designed three nine-metre tall letters forming the word ‘RUN’, made of glass and stainless steel. In daylight, the letters act as a mirror, and at night they become more transparent and glow with internal LED lighting. Monica’s inspiration for the work comes from musical references, such as ‘Running Dry’ by Neil Young, and the many uses of the Park.
