Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.

Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

To love means to open ourselves to the negative as well as the positive - to grief, sorrow, and disappointment as well as to joy, fulfillment, and an intensity of consciousness we did not know was possible before.

There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all life has to offer, with passion, excitement and acceptance.

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person.

The most successful people recognize that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation.
